ALUMNI SCRIPT READING SERIES

The Alumni Script Reading Series gives AFI alumni the opportunity to submit a screenplay to be read with professional actors and receive constructive feedback from others in the artistic community. Please join us for the third selection of the series:

Jace Alexander (AFI Class of 1992) is set to direct DIRTY LITTLE SECRET: THE JODI ARIAS STORY, Lifetime's original movie about the tragic couple.


Katherine Heigl and Patrick Wilson have signed on for Darko Entertainment's dark comedy NORTH OF HELL. The screenplay is based on a story by Carlo Allen (AFI Class of 1980), Ted Elrick (AFI Class of 1980) and Tom Lavagnino (AFI Class of 1980), who wrote the original screenplay over 15 years ago post-AFI!


Dani Alpert (AFI class of 1990) recently appeared on GIRLFRIEND MOMS, a Web episode on HuffPost Live.


Michael Corrigan's (AFI Class of 1984) Hollywood thriller, THE FILMMAKERS, set in part at AFI, is now an audiobook.


DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY: BETRAYAL, a documentary about homeless veterans, premiered in L.A. Bill Dumas (AFI Class of 1990) is Producer/Director/Screenwriter/Cinematographer/Editor.


DEAR MOM, LOVE CHER airs on Lifetime on May 6. P. David Ebersole (AFI Class of 1991) is Producer/Director/Screenwriter, Tina Imahara (AFI Class of 1998) is Editor and Mark Putnam (AFI Class of 1991) is Additional Cinematographer.


Anthony Grippa (AFI Class of 2012) wrapped production on the feature film HALF BROTHER. Stephen Paratore (AFI Class of 2009) is Producer, Stefan Weinberger (AFI Class of 2012) is Cinematographer and Yoni Reiss (AFI Class of 2009) is Editor.


An untitled pitch about the electronic dance music craze was acquired by 20th Century Fox to be written by Adam Weinstock and Andy Jones (AFI Class of 2010).


Christopher Lockett (AFI Class of 2002) directed THE TYPEWRITER, a film about a machine and the people who use, love and repair it. The film will premier in L.A. on May 10 and will screen in San Francisco, DC, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Sydney, Berlin and Barcelona.


David Mallin (AFI Class of 2008) has accepted a tenure-track position as the Film Program Director in the Department of Communications and Theatre Arts at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Mallin was a visiting Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech for the past year.


WE STILL LIVE HERE, a film about the cultural revival of the Wampanoag of Southeastern Massachusetts, screened in India. Anna Makepeace (AFI Directing Workshop for Women, Class of 1989) is Producer/Director/Screenwriter/Editor.


Amin Matalqa (AFI Class of 2007) directed the music video for "So Low" by The Controversy.


Harun Mehmedinovic (AFI Class of 2007) held a TEDx Talk at Emory University to present his Bloodhoney photography project.


ICE COLD GOLD premiered on Animal Planet last month. The series follows eight American workers to Greenland, where they aim to find gold and precious gems. Cynthia Palormo (AFI Class of 1990) is Executive Producer.


THE LABYRINTH aired for several weeks in the U.S. in honor of the Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel. Ronen Pestes (AFI Class of 2003) is Colorist.


Sara Sugarman (AFI Class of 2009) is attached to direct Lifetime's Movie of the Week HOUSE OF VERSACE.


Vanara Taing (AFI Class of 2012) has joined Arthur Dong (AFI Class of 1984) as an assistant editor on his new film THE KILLING FIELDS OF DR. HAING S. NGOR.


CARJACK will be screened at the Egyptian Theatre on May 9 as part of the International Cinematographers Guild's Emerging Cinematographer Award Showcase. Pete Villani (AFI Class of 2004) was the 2012 winner.


Drafthouse Films purchased the rights to CHEAP THRILLS. Andrew Wheeler (AFI Class of 2010) is Cinematographer. The film won an Audience Award at SXSW.
