AFI DOCS Impact Lab
Produced by AFI DOCS and sponsored by NBCUniversal, the AFI DOCS Impact Lab is a two-day intensive designed for filmmakers with issue-driven films who aim to create broader social and political change through the power of story and film.
The Lab provides a select group of films participating in the annual AFI DOCS Film Festival with unique training opportunities in the areas of advocacy, grassroots communications and grasstops engagement.
In addition to exclusive training with some of Washington's most sought-after tacticians, Lab participants are connected with policymakers and Congressional aides working on legislation relevant to their films.
After completing the Lab filmmakers are invited to apply for support for their outreach and social action campaigns through the AFI DOCS/NBCUniversal Impact Grants program. In December, grants were awarded to six documentary projects that screened at AFI DOCS in 2016.
To be considered for the next AFI DOCS Impact Lab, your film must be selected for screening in AFI DOCS 2017. Find information on submitting to the festival here.
