Christine O'Malley Interim Festival Director for AFI DOCSWe're excited to announce that documentary film producer Christine O'Malley will be the Interim Festival Director for AFI DOCS.

Christine's been a member of the documentary community for over 15 years working as both a producer and writer. As a filmmaker herself, she brings a seasoned perspective to AFI DOCS. Her most recent documentary, IF YOU BUILD IT (2014) screened at AFI DOCS last summer and is now playing in theaters.

Christine had this to say about her new role:

"I'm thrilled to step into this opportunity to build upon the success of AFI DOCS and take it to new heights. Because it is the only documentary festival in the U.S. that delivers films, artists and issues directly to our nation's leaders, AFI DOCS can evoke the kind of change of which filmmakers dream. Of which I dream. It is an honor to serve as its curatorial leader."

Christine has worked on many films over the years including, WORDPLAY (2006) which was nominated for both a Critics' Choice Award and a National Board of Review Award, Roadside Attractions' I.O.U.S.A. (2008), Sundance Selects' THESE AMAZING SHADOWS (2011), the award-winning HBO documentary SUPERHEROES (2011), as well as Harry Shearer's documentary THE BIG UNEASY (2010). She's also worked on the Academy Award®-nominated film ENRON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM (2004).

AFI DOCS will take place from June 18-22, 2014.
